Sodium silicate, commonly known as effervescent alkali, is an inorganic substance, and its aqueous solution is commonly known as water glass. It is a colorless, light yellow, or bluish gray transparent viscous liquid. Easily soluble in water and soluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution, it is called a green and environmentally friendly casting binder that conforms to sustainable development.
Sodium silicate can be used in different industries,
1. Sodium silicate water glass is mainly used in ceramics when mixed with mud to dilute (the raw material), improve the flow performance of the mud, and do not affect the strength of the mud. Water glass has the best effect on enhancing the suspension capacity of kaolin mud.
2. Sodium silicate water glass plays a buffering role in daily chemical cleaning products. Sodium silicate can maintain the pH value of the solution unchanged, which has a buffering effect. Can maintain the alkalinity of the detergent, thereby reducing the consumption of detergent.
3. Sodium silicate water glass can withstand high temperatures up to 800 ℃ and has strong adhesion. It can be used as an adhesive for fire-resistant materials such as fire doors, refractory bricks, and fire-resistant boards, and is a good natural fire-resistant liquid material.
4. In the papermaking industry, sodium silicate water glass (high-definition, filtered and free of impurities) is generally added during the deinking and pulping process, and is usually used together with hydrogen peroxide because it can passivate metal ions, especially transition metal ions that cause hydrogen peroxide to decompose.
5. Sodium silicate water glass (without pressure filtration) can be mixed with cement slurry for grouting. The two solutions are quickly injected into the outlet using a grouting machine, and the two will solidify in 10 seconds, quickly blocking the outlet and stabilizing the terrain. Used for projects with complex terrain and large groundwater, such as subways, tunnels, artificial islands, and underwater construction.
6. Sodium silicate water glass (high-definition, filtered and free of impurities) is used as a printing and dyeing aid in the textile industry agent.
7. Used as raw materials for concrete reinforcement and curing agents.
8. Applied in the field of washing titanium dioxide.
